A complete digital launch for a new coastal wellness retreat, transforming a physical space into a digital destination before the doors even opened.
Project Genesis
The founders of Tidal Retreat had purchased a stunning cliffside property in Cornwall with a singular vision: to create a sanctuary where the rhythm of the tide dictates the pace of the day. However, with the grand opening just eight weeks away, they realised their physical presence was insufficient to drive the interest needed for a successful debut. They needed a digital presence that matched the serenity of their location.
Sensly was brought in not just to build a site, but to translate the feeling of the Atlantic coast into a digital experience. Our goal was to create a website that didn't just list amenities, but evoked the feeling of standing on that cliff edge at dawn.
Brand Identity Creation
The name Tidal Retreat was already set, rooted in the duality of the ocean's power and calm. For the visual language, we looked to the tidal flats. We developed a color palette that moves through the seasons of the tide: deep slate greys, mossy greens, and soft sand tones. This palette provided a sophisticated, earthy foundation that felt neither sterile nor overwhelming.
The logo system was kept minimal, using a custom serif typeface that mimics the movement of water. It was important that the identity felt organic rather than rigid, allowing the brand to evolve as the tides do.
Copywriting & Narrative
Every word on the site was written to serve the narrative of the ocean. We crafted room descriptions that focused on sensory details—the sound of the waves, the weight of the linen, the angle of the morning light.
For example, the "The Cove Suite" description wasn't just a list of features; it was an invitation to wake up to the tide. The retreat's story page highlighted the local foraging tours and the artesian water sources, positioning Tidal Retreat not just as a hotel, but as a portal to the local landscape.
Website Build
The technical build prioritised seamless user journeys. We integrated a real-time booking engine (Mindbody) directly into the site, ensuring that a visitor could secure a room with just a few clicks. The gallery was designed with a "masonry" layout to mimic the organic, stacked appearance of pebbles on a shore.
A dedicated press page was established, featuring a curated list of local media features and a media kit for journalists. This helped establish authority before the launch, positioning Tidal Retreat as a must-visit destination for wellness travellers.
