Navigation Simplification
We reduced the main navigation menu from five items to three essential categories: Classes, Membership, and Community. This reduced cognitive load and guided users directly to booking.
How we helped a Portland-based yoga studio redefine its digital soul through a complete brand and website overhaul.
Solara Wellness Studio was founded by Elena R. on a simple premise: create a sanctuary in the heart of the city. Six months after opening, Solara had cultivated a loyal following, but their digital presence told a different story. The website was cluttered, the booking process required five distinct clicks, and the imagery felt distant from the warm, earthy energy of the physical studio.
The Challenge: Elena needed a digital presence that didn't just look good, but functioned seamlessly for her community. The goal was to streamline the user journey, showcase the studio's new photography, and elevate the brand identity to match the premium experience Solara offered.
The Goals: Redesign the website with a focus on conversion and ease, launch a cohesive brand identity (logo, typography, and color palette), and implement a content strategy that highlighted the studio's community workshops and new class offerings.
We began with a series of listening sessions—not with Elena, but with her students. Over twelve hours of conversations, three recurring themes emerged: clutter, confusion, and disconnection. Students felt overwhelmed by too much information on the old site and struggled to find class schedules.
Based on these insights, we defined a new core principle for Solara: Clarity through Calm. We knew the design had to strip away the noise and make the path to booking a class feel as intuitive as walking into the studio.
The previous identity relied on generic teal and stark white, which felt clinical and cold. We shifted the palette to a grounded, terracotta-inspired earth tone system.
Key changes:
We reduced the main navigation menu from five items to three essential categories: Classes, Membership, and Community. This reduced cognitive load and guided users directly to booking.
Integrated a custom Calendly booking widget directly into the class schedule. Users can now book a slot in under 30 seconds without leaving the page.
Curated a new visual language using the imagery from the studio photoshoot. The photos are now displayed as large, immersive hero sections that evoke the feeling of the space.
"Sensly gave our studio a digital presence that finally matched our soul. The new site doesn't just look beautiful; it feels like Solara. Our students have commented on how much easier it is to book, and I finally feel proud of how we present ourselves online."— Elena R., Founder, Solara Wellness Studio
